On March 18, 2025, Casa Grande Police released new details regarding a drive-by shooting linked to a road rage incident. The dramatic events culminated in the arrest of former Maricopa High School quarterback Damian Logan on Tuesday in Maricopa, as outlined in 46 pages of police documentation made available today.

Logan faces serious charges, including multiple counts of aggravated assault and drive-by shooting. He allegedly fired at least five shots at a vehicle occupied by two individuals, fortunately leading to no injuries. Witnesses reported that the shooter was wearing a black mask during the incident.

The sequence of events began when the victim, driving a Chrysler 300 minivan, brake-checked a dark sedan following him from a nearby McDonald’s. Following this, the sedan’s driver, identified as Logan, reportedly pulled up alongside and began shooting. Authorities estimate up to ten rounds were discharged, evidenced by damage to the minivan, audio captured on doorbell cameras, and discarded shell casings.

In a surprising twist, Logan had an earlier encounter with police on the same day as the shooting. Casa Grande officers assisted him with a tire change, an interaction documented by body camera footage that later revealed a bullet hole in Logan’s Kia Optima. The circumstances surrounding the bullet hole remain unclear, prompting further inquiries from InMaricopa.

Following the incident, investigators, including Officer Richard Vassell, reviewed surveillance footage, which led to recognizing Logan as a suspect. Officers traced him to a residence in Maricopa’s Desert Cedars neighborhood, where they executed a search warrant. They recovered a total of 11 items, including firearms and ammunition.

Logan’s arrest adds a troubling chapter to his history as a student-athlete, having previously played for the Casa Grande Union High School football team. He now faces severe legal repercussions amidst an investigation that highlights escalating road rage incidents in the area.
