DPS: Motorcyclist dead after 'racing' incident on I-17


PHOENIX — A crash occurred Sunday night at milepost 204 on Interstate 17, near Camelback Road, resulting in serious injuries, confirmed by the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).

DPS reported that the incident took place on southbound I-17, necessitating the immediate closure of all southbound lanes. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) noted that drivers encountered significant delays due to this accident. Fortunately, the lanes were reopened early Monday morning.

It’s important to mention that the northbound lanes of the freeway remained unaffected throughout this time. Drivers are advised to stay updated on real-time road conditions via AZ511.gov, the AZ511 app, or by calling 511.
