Discover the Must-Know Highlights of This Year’s London Bridge Days Parade
The 53rd annual London Bridge Days Parade is set to take place this Saturday on Main Street, featuring an array of patriotic-themed floats. This event celebrates Lake Havasu City’s rich history and the dedication of the London Bridge, an iconic structure originally purchased by city founder Robert P. McCulloch.
Each year, the parade showcases a diverse lineup of participants, including nonprofits, elected officials, school groups, and local clubs. According to Go Lake Havasu, the economic impact of this year’s parade is projected to reach $17,000, emphasizing its significance to the community.
This year’s theme, “Celebrating American Patriots,” encourages participants to creatively express their interpretations. One notable entry will be from the Havasu Stitchers club, whose president, Barbara Withers, shared their plan to display around 20 patriotic quilts aboard a decorated pontoon boat. “This theme is particularly important during an election year,” Withers said, highlighting the need for civic engagement and patriotism.
Local schools will also play a role in the parade, with participants including student council members, the marching band, and twirlers. A special highlight will be a performance by Jayden Mendez, who is soon heading to Italy for an international baton competition.
Mohave Community College will showcase a float dedicated to veterans, seeking to honor those who have served in the military. Vanessa Martinez, the school’s cheerleading coach, is currently searching for veterans willing to participate by holding flags or banners. Interested individuals can contact her via email at vmartinezcastrejon@mohave.edu.
The parade festivities will unfold from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., commencing at Acoma Boulevard and concluding at Capri Boulevard. Attendees are encouraged to secure spots along the sidewalks of Main Street, which will be closed from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the event.
Later the same day, Parks and Recreation will host the Fall Fun Fair at Rotary Community Park Ballfields from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., featuring games, food trucks, and a candy-filled experience for families.
Weather forecasts indicate a pleasant day ahead, with temperatures reaching a high of 95 degrees and a low of 68 degrees on Saturday night, according to John Adair from the National Weather Service. Sunday’s weather will remain agreeable, with partly sunny skies and highs near 90. A notable drop in temperature is expected early next week, with highs in the 70s.
