Read books with gentle Irish giants

Irish Wolfhounds Tipper and Riley will be on hand third Fridays at the Irish Cultural Center’s McClelland Library for the Wolfie’s Tales Program (submitted photo).

The Irish Cultural Center and McClelland Library, located at 1106 N. Central Ave., will reopen on September 4 following a summer hiatus. This reopening brings a diverse array of programming aimed at engaging Valley families.

September’s activities include First Friday events on September 6, alongside genealogy workshops, lectures, and book discussions. One standout feature is the opportunity for families to read with gentle giant Irish Wolfhound therapy dogs. Participants are encouraged to bring their own books or select one from the library’s collection for this free program.

The Wolfie’s Tales Program launches on September 20, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Interested participants can reserve a 15-minute reading slot by calling in advance or visiting during regular operating hours.
