Three football plays are vying for a chance to secure a $5,000 scholarship, a sponsorship from Sweet James Accident Attorneys.
PHOENIX — The much-anticipated results of the Sweet Play of the Week poll for Friday Night Fever Week 9 are finally here. A noteworthy 35,127 votes were cast. Emerging victorious, with 54% of the vote, is Horizon High School’s Palmer Podwika, recognized for his game-winning field goal.
Coming in a close second was Ian Slater from Arcadia High School, whose impressive leaping touchdown catch garnered 45.8% of the votes. Queen Creek High School’s Tait Reynolds followed with a scrambling touchdown run receiving just 0.2% of the votes.
Podwika’s achievement propels him into a broader competition at the end of the season, where all weekly winners will compete for the scholarship. Congratulations are in order for Podwika as his name now joins the list of celebrated plays from previous weeks.

- Week 8: 72-yard touchdown run by Jack Isidore from Verrado
- Week 7: An innovative touchdown pass from Tyler Lebaron of Deer Valley
- Week 6: Karsten Cornell’s remarkable stiff arm, leading to a touchdown for Boulder Creek
- Week 5: Logan Bonham’s game-winning pick six at Highland
- Week 4: Johnny Garcia’s 70-yard touchdown catch and run for ALA-West Foothills
- Week 3: Talan Speir’s 90-yard touchdown off a blocked field goal from Benjamin Franklin
- Week 2: RJ Lopez Jr. with an explosive 87-yard kickoff return at ALA-Queen Creek
- Week 1: Simon Lopez’s touchdown pass to Tyreke Cornett from Red Mountain
