Pinal County commissioners are set to hold a public hearing regarding a proposed dinosaur-themed educational and recreational park. The meeting will take place at 9 a.m. on July 17 at the Pinal County Emergency Operations Center in Florence.

The park, named Sky Village Dino Park, aims to occupy 10 acres near the intersection of Green Road and State Route 84. Plans indicate a focus on the dinosaurs of the Mesozoic Era, a period known for some of the most recognizable dinosaur species.

Gilbert-based Iplan Consulting has submitted the special use permit request on behalf of property owners Nadeesha Nambikuara Wellala and Nirosha Senerath. Currently, the land is designated for general rural use.

The developers seek to establish an outdoor recreational facility through this permit. Public attendance is encouraged, allowing community members to voice their opinions in person or submit written statements to the planning staff.

If 20% or more of neighboring property owners file protests, the rezoning proposal will necessitate a supermajority vote from the Pinal County Board of Supervisors.
