Did anyone win the $760M Mega Millions jackpot?

The anticipation builds as the Mega Millions jackpot reaches an impressive $825 million for its upcoming drawing this Friday. Should a player hit the jackpot, it would mark December’s largest prize and stand as the seventh largest in the history of the game.

This surge in the jackpot follows a prolonged streak since the last top prize win of $810 million on September 10 in Texas. The latest drawing failed to produce a jackpot winner, but several players did secure million-dollar prizes.

Five lucky participants in California, Louisiana, and Oklahoma matched all five white ball numbers, earning them $1 million each. A ticket sold in North Carolina generated $4 million for its holder due to the “Megaplier” option, which was set at 4X for Tuesday’s drawing.

This year, only three Mega Millions jackpots have been claimed. The most notable was a staggering $1.1 billion ticket sold in New Jersey in March, which remains unclaimed as New Jersey winners have a one-year window to collect. The record Mega Millions jackpot stands at $1.6 billion, awarded in Florida last August.

The winning numbers for the December 17, 2024 drawing were 56, 66, 67, 68, 69, and the MegaBall was 18, with a 4X MegaPlier.

Winners have the choice between an annuity paid out over 30 years or a lump sum payment, typically chosen due to its immediate benefits. Matching just the five numbers without the Mega Ball guarantees a prize of at least $1 million.

Drawing times for the Mega Millions are slated for Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. Eastern Time.
