A Desert Cedars man was arrested early Tuesday morning following a violent incident involving a woman. Police report that Keane Lennox Cuevas-Ingeneri, 24, faces several charges, including strangulation, unlawful imprisonment, assault, and disorderly conduct.

Maricopa police responded to a distress call shortly after midnight from a woman alleging that her boyfriend had choked her during an argument over accusations of infidelity. Upon arrival at the home on Cypress Lane, officers found visible signs of injury on the victim’s neck and chest, corroborating her claims.

The police report details that Cuevas-Ingeneri wrapped his hands around the woman’s throat and violently handled her. She attempted to escape while pleading with him to stop, leading to a struggle that resulted in her shirt being torn.

When confronted by officers, Cuevas-Ingeneri was observed with blood on his clothes. He admitted to “losing his cool” but claimed his hands “somehow” ended up around the woman’s neck. He explained the blood on his hand by stating it was the result of an accident involving a door, though he refrained from explaining why he was pursuing her.

Records reveal that Cuevas-Ingeneri had recently been ordered to pay child support to the victim. If found guilty, he faces a potential sentence of up to 14 years in prison.
