Dementia Connection of Havasu celebrates 10 years of memory walk

Lake Havasu City’s Movin’ for Memory Walk celebrates its tenth anniversary this Saturday, bringing the community together to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Hosted by Dementia Connection of Havasu, the event emphasizes the importance of support for individuals and families affected by these conditions. Committee chairman Jennifer Capovilla highlighted the organization’s role in offering valuable resources. “This organization is a very valuable resource to our community, supporting those who are going through this journey in their life,” she stated.

In addition to the walk, attendees can learn about the various services provided by the Dementia Connection. Volunteer Libbe Gilbert noted that ongoing support is accessible through their monthly Memory Cafe and various support groups.

Registration for the walk is set at $30, which includes a t-shirt, subject to availability. In past events, hundreds have participated, making it a well-attended gathering. Capovilla also mentioned that music and refreshments will be available, along with basket and 50/50 raffles to engage attendees further.

The gathering kicks off at 8 a.m. at London Bridge Beach, near the community stage, with in-person registration options onsite. This walk promises not only to honor those affected but also to strengthen community ties through shared experiences and knowledge.
