December Kicks Off with a Cozy Warm Embrace

Warm start to December

PHOENIX — Arizona welcomes December with unseasonably warm weather, as Valley temperatures reach near 80 degrees this week.

This is a noticeable increase compared to the average high of 70 degrees typically expected at this time of year.

The weather is expected to remain consistently warm across the western U.S. in the coming days. Temperatures in the Valley are likely to remain in the upper 70s to lower 80s, which is approximately 10 degrees above normal. Notably, Tuesday’s forecast calls for a high of 81, potentially tying the daily temperature record.

Residents will not experience any rain over the next week. This marks a significant milestone with Phoenix set to extend its streak to 100 days without measurable precipitation. While an impressive feat, such dry conditions are not uncommon in the desert, and this streak will not even rank among the top 20 longest dry periods in Phoenix history.

As of now, Phoenix has recorded 4.54 inches of rainfall for the year, which is about 70% of the average for this time of year.
