PHOENIX — A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday afternoon in west Phoenix, resulting in the death of a woman after being struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene. The crash occurred near the intersection of 34th Avenue and Maricopa Street, just north of Buckeye Road, around 6 p.m., according to police reports.

Emergency responders found the victim seriously injured when they arrived. She was transported to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.

Authorities believe the suspect vehicle was traveling westbound on Maricopa Street at the time of the accident. Police are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to step forward.
