2 people killed, including alleged wrong-way driver, in crash on Arizona freeway

Two fatalities were reported following a wrong-way crash in Phoenix early Sunday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).

Officials stated that a vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of State Route 202 around 2 a.m., having entered the freeway at Baseline Road.

Moments later, the car collided head-on with another vehicle, prompting a third vehicle to crash into the first two. Authorities confirmed that the drivers of the first two vehicles were the only occupants and both sustained fatal injuries. Fortunately, the passengers in the third vehicle escaped unharmed.
