Danhoff & PCC women take 1st at cross country meet

The Pima Community College women’s cross country team displayed remarkable talent at the Vaquero CAMPY Invitational, held at Central Arizona College in Coolidge this past Saturday.

Ranked No. 19, the Aztecs secured first place with an impressive score of 31 points, outperforming Central Arizona with 36 points, the College of Southern Nevada at 67 points, and Phoenix College, which totaled 112 points.

Sophomore Reatta Danhof, a standout from Ironwood Ridge High School, continued her strong performance from the ACCAC Conference Championships, clinching her second consecutive victory. She achieved a personal best in the 5K, crossing the finish line in 18:48.

Freshman Karlee Pope also marked a milestone in her young career, setting her own personal record by finishing sixth in 20:11.

Additionally, sophomore Linda Rivero from Desert View High School recorded a personal best, finishing seventh in 20:22.

Sophomore Mariah Cruz from Mountain View High School followed closely, taking eighth place with a time of 20:29, while freshman Ella Allred, representing Benson High School, secured ninth place at 20:32.

The Aztecs are gearing up for their next competition at the San Diego Invitational on Saturday, October 12, hosted by San Diego College.
