Maricopa resident Deonce Evans is set to take part in a critical cycling event to raise awareness and funds for multiple sclerosis (MS) in honor of his wife, Stacia Ward, who has been battling the disease for five years.

The Bike MS event, organized by the National MS Society, will take place over the weekend of October 5 and 6 in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Evans will join approximately 50,000 other cyclists across the nation in this significant fundraising effort.

Multiple sclerosis affects the protective sheath surrounding nerve fibers in the central nervous system, leading to various symptoms such as muscle weakness, vision problems, and memory issues. While there is currently no cure, treatments are available to alleviate symptoms and slow the progression of the disease.

Evans expressed the emotional weight of this mission, reflecting on the challenges he faced in understanding his wife’s condition. He noted, “Throughout this journey, she has remained incredibly positive and has always been my biggest supporter in my business endeavors.”

Describing his motivation, Evans stated, “This year, I wanted to give back by participating in Bike MS. This cause is very close to my heart, and while I may not be the most athletic, I believe that an hour of discomfort on the bike is a small price to pay compared to what those with MS endure every day.”

He is appealing to his community for support, urging residents to consider donating to advance this important cause. Donations can be made through the Bike MS website, contributing to the largest fundraising cycling series globally.
