The city of Sedona will host its initial public input meeting regarding the future of the Sedona Cultural Park on Thursday, October 24, at the Hub at Posse Grounds Park. The event will feature two identical sessions, scheduled for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

This meeting is part of an agreement with the Phoenix-based consultant Dig Studio, awarded a contract on July 9. As stipulated, the consultant is tasked with gathering public feedback on a revised master plan for the Cultural Park. This includes holding two public meetings and a subsequent session to share the findings. Additionally, Dig Studio will conduct at least 35 meetings with city staff and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive input.

Insights from the city’s 2022 budget survey highlighted community preferences for the Cultural Park. Residents overwhelmingly favored preserving the area as open space, with this option receiving nearly double the support compared to potential housing developments. Among the 185 comments submitted under the “other” category, 62 respondents, or about 33%, expressed a desire for the park to be revitalized as a performing arts and music venue, a choice that was notably absent from the survey options provided by city officials.
