Crawford Shines with 34 Assists, 2 Blocks & 2 Aces in Pima Volleyball’s Phoenix Comeback
The Pima Community College volleyball team, currently standing at 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the ACCAC conference, embarked on their first road game for the conference season on Wednesday, facing off against Phoenix College, who holds a record of 1-2 and 0-2 in the ACCAC.
In an impressive display, the Aztecs swept the Bears in straight sets with scores of 27-25, 25-18, and 25-18. This victory marked a strong rebound following their previous loss to Glendale Community College.
Sophomore Taylor Crawford, a product of Ironwood Ridge High School, showcased her skills by contributing 34 assists, along with two blocks and two aces to lead the team. Freshman Maggie McReynolds from Mountain View High School emerged as the standout player, registering a team-high 14 kills. Meanwhile, sophomore Haylee Gilleland, hailing from Flagstaff High School, narrowly missed achieving a double-double, finishing with 11 kills and nine digs.
Defensively, sophomore Jasmin Joseph from Tanque Verde High School anchored the backline with an impressive total of 13 digs.
Pima’s week is set to be action-packed as the team gears up to host the Aztec Classic from Thursday through Saturday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium. The Aztecs will kick off the tournament with a match against Williston State College on Thursday night, slated to begin at 7 p.m.
