The Maricopa City Council has officially appointed three temporary judges to serve at the Maricopa Municipal Court. This decision, made yesterday, aims to ensure the court effectively manages conflict cases and search warrants in the absence of Presiding Judge Stephen McCarville.

Angel Raymond, Richard Platt, and Kevin White have diverse legal backgrounds rooted in Maricopa and Pinal County. Raymond, who established her Maricopa law firm in 2018, graduated from Arizona Summit Law School in 2016 and is licensed to practice in both Arizona and Washington State. Her focus areas include estate planning, personal injury, and criminal defense.

Richard Platt brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as a judge pro tempore with the Pinal County Superior Court since 2015. A resident of Gold Canyon, he holds a law degree and an MBA from Gonzaga University, completed in 1980. Prior to his judicial role, Platt was the chief criminal deputy Pinal County attorney from 1996 to 2013.

Kevin White’s career spans more than two decades as a Pinal County superior court judge in Florence. In addition to his judicial experience, he currently works as an attendance interventionist for Casa Grande Union High School. White earned his juris doctor from Arizona State University, adding to his qualifications.

This strategic appointment of judges pro tempore is expected to enhance the efficiency of the Maricopa Municipal Court, particularly in managing caseloads effectively during transitional periods.
