A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m. on September 19 at Heritage Park, which will honor Maricopa’s original developer, Mike Ingram.

Ingram, who has significantly impacted the community, contributed a $100,000 grant to the city. This funding has been instrumental in enhancing Heritage Park, including the construction of a new historic walkway.

Located at the intersection of Plainview Street and Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway, the walkway will feature informative plaques that narrate Maricopa’s rich history.

“Maricopa was already a great farm community before I arrived,” Ingram remarked. His vision, supported by prominent community members like John and Mary Lou Smith along with Ak-Chin leadership, set Maricopa onto a path of growth and opportunity. He expressed gratitude towards individuals such as Jane Askew, Alma Farrell, Delia Carlyle, and Leona Kakar for their contributions in making Maricopa Road a reality.

For those attending the ceremony, parking is available at the Maricopa Unified School District lot, conveniently located adjacent to the park.
