Chandler Officer Fires Shot as Suspect Aims Weapon During Confrontation, Police Report

CHANDLER, Ariz. — A police officer in Chandler fired a weapon during a confrontation with a suspect early Sunday morning. The incident unfolded just before 2 a.m. at a residence near Ray and Alma School roads, prompted by multiple reports of gunfire coming from the area.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers established a perimeter in the alley behind the home. As the situation progressed, officers detected more gunshots emanating from the backyard.
According to the Chandler Police Department, one officer discharged their firearm after observing a suspect aim a weapon toward them. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported during the encounter.
Authorities detained three individuals found inside the residence, and the Mesa Police Department is handling the investigation in accordance with EVCIRT protocols.
