The Central Arizona College Foundation hosted its annual “Night of Stars” fundraiser on February 21, 2025, at the Elements Event Center. The event aimed to honor students who have benefited from scholarships provided by the college’s 501(c)(3) organization.

During the evening, attendees heard inspiring testimonials from scholarship recipients. Diamond Todman, a San Tan campus student recently elected president of the Campus Activities Board, shared her journey. “Not only have I been able to attend college without having to worry about my tuition, I’ve also had amazing professors that were patient with me,” she stated. Her active participation in student government reflects the empowerment provided by scholarships.

Another student, Kenzie Allen from the Maricopa campus, emphasized the transformative impact of the Pinal Promise scholarship. “It was from the Pinal Promise that I learned the true pursuit of knowledge lies not in where you begin, but in how you embrace the journey,” Allen explained. As she prepares to transfer for a bachelor’s degree, she expressed deep gratitude for the support she received.

Allen announced that she had accepted a Fulbright Scholarship from the Arizona Board of Regents, crediting the Pinal Promise for changing her life. The scholarship fund, initiated over 20 years ago, helps cover tuition and living expenses, with community college tuition currently listed at $14,243 according to the Central Arizona College calculator.

This initiative is a collaborative effort involving Central Arizona College, the CAC Foundation, and Pinal County School Districts. It provides two years of in-state tuition to qualifying high school graduates from Pinal County, cities like Maricopa leading in student enrollment. To be eligible, students must complete 20 hours of community service before their freshman year at the college.

CAC Foundation Executive Director Craig Kurtz praised the program, stating, “You started [the Pinal Promise], and so many kids have gone through CAC debt-free.” The evening included entertainment by comedian Don McMillan, along with a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, and other fundraising activities.

All proceeds from the event will directly support scholarships for future students, ensuring that financial barriers remain minimized for those wishing to pursue higher education at Central Arizona College.
