Central Arizona College Launches Exciting Dual Enrollment Program for High School Students

Central Arizona College (CAC) is providing high school students in Pinal County an opportunity to earn college credits while still in school through its dual enrollment program. This initiative aims to streamline their transition into higher education, ultimately saving time and money.
For the upcoming spring and fall 2024 semesters, CAC has announced over 130 dual enrollment classes across 14 high schools, facilitated by 30 qualified instructors. Impressively, more than 1,400 students from Pinal County are enrolled, increasing participation by 200 compared to last year. The funding allocated through tuition waivers reached $1,026,880, signifying a significant rise in financial support.
Hazel Rossi, assistant director of high school programs and outreach, expressed enthusiasm about the program’s growth, emphasizing the partnerships with local high school districts that enable students to succeed and save considerable tuition expenses.
These courses are usually conducted at the high schools during regular hours, and are accessible to students in grades nine through twelve who meet specific college prerequisites. Once enrolled, these students are considered CAC students and must adhere to college regulations.
Importantly, the courses are rigorously evaluated through CAC’s curriculum process, ensuring they are recognized as advanced classes that can be transferred to Arizona public universities or community college programs. This provides students with a clear pathway to further education.
High school students wishing to participate in dual enrollment must fill out a CAC Admission Form and a High School Programs Registration Form, both requiring electronic signatures from a student and a school counselor.
