PHOENIX — The excitement in high school football continues as the 2024 season enters Week 2. The Friday Night Fever Sweet Play of the Week poll is heating up, inviting fans to participate eagerly.
Every week, viewers can witness the top three “Sweet Plays” from high school games and then vote for their favorite at 12News.com/Fever. This ongoing competition not only showcases talent but also creates opportunities for athletes.
At the end of the season, weekly champions will compete for a $5,000 scholarship sponsored by Sweet James Accident Attorneys. This initiative aims to support young talent and encourage participation.
Last week, over 100,000 votes were cast, and the spotlight shone on Red Mountain’s quarterback Simon Lopez, whose touchdown pass to Tyreke Cornett claimed the first weekly title.
Now, attention turns to this week’s nominees for the Sweet Play of the Week:
- ALA-Queen Creek WR/RB RJ Lopez Jr. with an impressive 87-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
- McClintock’s WR Khalil Bender leaping over two defenders for a remarkable touchdown catch.
- Hamilton CB Dajon Hinton returning the opening kickoff for a stunning 100-yard touchdown.
To participate, viewers can watch the plays featured in the video above and vote for their favorite. The voting window closes next Friday at 10 a.m., with the winner announced during Week 3 of Friday Night Fever.
