Casa Grande Grieves as Beloved School Athletic Director Passes Away

The Casa Grande Union High School District announced the sudden death of Vista Grande High School’s athletic director, Louis Ramirez II.

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. — The local community is mourning a significant loss following the passing of Ramirez on August 8. With over a dozen years of coaching experience, Ramirez’s unexpected demise has left a void in the district.

“Mr. Ramirez was deeply passionate about his work, always striving to do what was best for our students and the athletes he coached. His dedication and spirit will be profoundly missed,” read the district’s statement.

Ramirez, an alumnus of Casa Grande, previously coached football in Marana before returning to serve his home community as athletic director. In a 2023 interview, Ramirez had asserted, “I’ll always be a coach at heart, you can never take that out of me.”

The circumstances surrounding his death remain undisclosed by the school district.
