Casa Grande Celebrates the Return of Water Service After Storm Shutdown

Residents of Casa Grande, Arizona, faced a significant water outage on Sunday. Officials have since confirmed that repairs have been made and service is being restored.
The issue began when an anonymous viewer reported that the entire city was without water. The Arizona Water Company later verified that there was a widespread disruption, with no estimated timeline for restoration initially available.
About 4,000 customers experienced issues, with Audrey Lopez recounting her family’s struggle with dwindling water pressure. “A slow stream to a drip to absolutely no water,” she detailed, emphasizing their reliance on bottled water during the day-long outage.
Resident Carol Hirst noted the confusion among neighbors as they checked in with one another about the status of their water supply. “The neighbors all started calling each other like, ‘Do you have water?’” she said, highlighting her first experience with such a disruption.
David Kean, of the Casa Grande Fire Department, reported direct communication with the Arizona Water Company, which confirmed repairs of damaged water lines caused by recent storms. These conditions delayed planned maintenance and ultimately led to the outage.
Mark Kieren, Vice President of Operations for the Arizona Water Company, explained that storm activity had impacted the booster stations supplying the northern part of the system. He assured residents that service was being restored, stating, “Everything is back up and running. Everything is fixed.”
By 1 p.m. on Sunday, the booster station was operational again, with pressure gradually returning to affected areas. Kieran speculated that the outage could have been caused by lightning or short-circuiting during the storm.
