Car strikes tree, rolls over during Super Bowl — miraculously, none hurt

Authorities are investigating a serious crash that occurred on Hogenes Boulevard in Maricopa Meadows just before halftime of the Super Bowl on February 9, 2025. This incident marks the second consecutive year that a significant car accident has taken place in the neighborhood during this event.

Last year’s tragedy involved an 18-year-old driver losing control and subsequently crashing into a tree, resulting in the death of a 13-year-old. Emergency responders were dispatched to the latest incident at approximately 5:17 p.m. They found a white sedan that had collided with a tree, ultimately ending up overturned in a nearby wash, as confirmed by Phoenix Regional Dispatch reports.

Initial evaluations of the driver, a male, suggested he had been extracted from the vehicle. At around 5:30 p.m., first responders were seen preparing a stretcher, though it was unclear if the driver would be transported to a medical facility.

As a result of the crash, eastbound traffic on Hogenes Boulevard has been blocked, while westbound lanes remain open. InMaricopa is currently seeking further information from the city’s public safety spokesperson regarding the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Monica Williams, the spokesperson, later described the event as a single-car crash and stated that there were no significant injuries reported at that time. This story is rapidly developing, and updates will follow as new information becomes available.
