Lake Havasu City Council election: Nancy Campbell, David Diaz, Cameron Moses ahead in race

Early primary election results indicate Lake Havasu City Council incumbents Nancy Campbell and Cameron Moses are leading, with David Diaz also in contention.

As of 10:30 p.m., Campbell was ahead with 6,775 votes (23.89%), Diaz followed with 5,439 votes (19.18%), Moses had 4,781 votes (16.86%), and Morgan Braden secured 4,536 votes (16%).

Voters were allowed to cast ballots for up to three candidates to fill the three available seats. A candidate must receive a majority to avoid a runoff in the general election. This majority is calculated by dividing the total votes cast by the three seats up for grabs.

Before the results were announced, Campbell expressed optimism about voter turnout in an interview with Today’s News-Herald. “I’m excited to see the voter participation; I hope we had the turnout that we were rooting for,” Campbell stated.

Diaz, in his second campaign, shared his positive outlook, saying, “Right now, I’m feeling really good, so we’ll see what the voters say.” He believes the City Council election will be settled in the primary, a trend observed historically.

Both Campbell and Diaz acknowledged the quality of this year’s candidates. “We’re lucky that so many came out and want to support Lake Havasu City,” Campbell noted.
