Cam Skattebo and Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers Serve Up Hope, Donating $6,600 to Phoenix Children’s Hospital!

Two weeks ahead of the NFL Draft, former Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo returned to the Valley to make a significant donation to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Skattebo’s visit coincided with the successful promotion of the ‘Skatteburger,’ a specialty item available at Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers since November, which has raised funds for the hospital.
The ‘Skatteburger,’ featuring roasted jalapeños, bacon, avocados, and a tangy chipotle aioli, was sold at various locations for $16.95. Notably, 10% of the burger sales went directly to help pediatric patients at Phoenix Children’s, culminating in a check presentation of $6,600 by Skattebo.
Reflecting on his time at ASU, Skattebo emphasized the importance of giving back. “It’s about leaving a legacy in the Valley,” he stated. He appreciated the support received from the community and expressed his desire for the donation to impact children’s lives positively.
Skattebo shared a personal moment that highlights his influence on young fans. He recounted an experience in California where a group of children followed him, eager to meet him. “Seeing that impact, even from afar, reaffirms what I want to achieve,” he noted.
As he prepares for a professional career in the NFL, Skattebo remains connected to ASU, taking time to catch a recent Sun Devils practice. His nostalgia was palpable as he mentioned the unoccupied locker that once held his gear, accusing him of wanting to jump back into action.
Looking ahead, Skattebo is keenly awaiting the NFL Draft, which takes place April 24-26 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He has already undertaken a Top 30 visit with the Arizona Cardinals and is projected to be selected between the second and fourth rounds by several teams, including the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Meanwhile, Arizona State’s football program is set to begin its 2025 season against Northern Arizona on August 30. Skattebo’s former teammate, quarterback Sam Leavitt, also contributed to the charitable efforts, presenting another sizable check to Phoenix Children’s earlier this month.
This news highlights the intertwining of sports and community service, showcasing how athletes like Skattebo can leave a lasting impact beyond the field.
