CAC Honor Society Champions Student Success and Global Initiatives

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) at Central Arizona College (CAC) is making strides in supporting students and the local community through various initiatives. The Alpha Theta Delta chapter of PTK, the official honor society for two-year colleges, emphasizes scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and service.
Currently, PTK is conducting a shoe drive fundraiser that will continue until November 27. The initiative aims to alleviate financial barriers for students seeking PTK membership by helping cover the membership fee. This association opens doors to numerous scholarships that can assist students in completing their degrees.
The shoe drive encourages donations of gently used or new shoes, with drop-off sites across multiple CAC campuses, including the Maricopa Campus located at 17945 N. Regent Drive. Donations will be sent to Funds2Orgs, partnering with small enterprises in developing countries to create local jobs and economic opportunities.
Dr. Sandy Rath, lead advisor for Phi Theta Kappa, expressed enthusiasm about the drive. “Many people have extra shoes they can donate. By contributing, you help high-achieving students overcome financial challenges and support families in need overseas,” she noted, highlighting the drive’s dual impact.
Beyond the shoe drive, PTK at CAC is involved in various community service projects, such as blood drives with Vitalant, food drives, clothing drives, and efforts to support families during the holiday season. The organization also participates in Operation Gratitude, sending care packages to military service members and first responders.
Each year, Phi Theta Kappa honors students from the district as members of the All-Arizona/All-USA Academic Team, providing them with two-year scholarships to state universities. This recognition includes a celebratory luncheon and additional cash scholarships for select awardees from CAC.
Overall, PTK at Central Arizona College demonstrates a strong commitment to student success and community service, enhancing the lives of individuals within Pinal County.
