Buckle Up, Lake Havasu City: Weekend Rainstorms on the Horizon

More rain could be in store for Lake Havasu City this weekend

An early morning storm on Friday brought heavy rain, lightning, and strong winds to parts of Lake Havasu City. More storms may be in the forecast.

According to the National Weather Service, different locations across town recorded about a tenth to a quarter inch of rain from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Friday.

A chance of rain will linger through the weekend, with the highest probability of 40% on Saturday afternoon and evening. However, rain chances will decrease on Monday and will not appear in the forecast for a while, also according to the National Weather Service.

Doyle Wilson, former water resources coordinator and consultant for Lake Havasu City, noted last week that the lack of rain in July was abnormal. He did add, however, that August may bring more storms.

Seasonal outlook predictions through October indicate continued below-normal precipitation and above-normal temperatures for much of the southwest, including Lake Havasu City. Weekend temperatures are expected to reach the low 100s, with highs of 106°F on Saturday, 102°F on Sunday, and 101°F on Monday.
