Buckeye City Manager Steps Down Amidst Criminal Investigation Scandal

BUCKEYE, Ariz. — Dan Cotterman, the city manager of Buckeye, has resigned amidst an ongoing criminal investigation led by the Glendale Police Department, following allegations reported by the Department of Child Safety.
Cotterman’s resignation was finalized on March 25, after the initial report prompted police action on March 18. While specific details regarding the allegations remain undisclosed, they have resulted in significant scrutiny of his professional standing.
In response to the situation, Buckeye police handed the investigation to Glendale Police to ensure impartiality. “The process is in motion, and we aim to maintain transparency and fairness throughout,” stated a city official.
On March 21, during an Executive Council Session, Cotterman was placed on administrative leave. Deputy City Manager David Roderique will serve as the interim city manager during this period. The City of Buckeye has committed to cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.
The city reiterated that Cotterman has not faced any arrest or charges at this time. “We recognize the need for answers and request that the community be patient as investigators proceed,” the city’s release noted.
According to the Glendale Police Department, the objective of their involvement is to handle the inquiry professionally and to avoid any potential conflicts of interest. “This is an active and open investigation, and we are unable to disclose details at this stage,” they commented.
