PHOENIX — A man is in custody following a fatal shooting in central Phoenix this past Friday night, marking a tragic incident for the community.

According to police reports, officers responded to the sound of gunfire near the intersection of 8th Street and Montecito Avenue at approximately 7:20 p.m. This location lies northwest of the busier intersection of Seventh Street and Indian School Road.

On arrival, authorities discovered 33-year-old Rayeon McKinnon suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

In collaboration with the Arizona Department of Public Safety, police identified the alleged shooter as 55-year-old Henry Turner. He was arrested on multiple charges, including murder and the illegal possession of a firearm.
