Bond Slashed for Teacher in Shocking Teen Runaway Misconduct Case

A prosecutor has accused a former Lake Havasu City school teacher of exploiting a teenager’s troubled home life to initiate an illegal sexual relationship. Deputy Mohave County Attorney Marcie Mininberg made these statements during a Tuesday hearing for Robyn Rogers, aged 44.
Mininberg informed Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen that Rogers first met the victim when he was a high school freshman. After an unspecified period, the 17-year-old confided in Rogers about his home issues. The teenager was reported missing in mid-February. Local police questioned Rogers multiple times about his whereabouts, but she allegedly lied to investigators, helping him stay hidden and find employment, Mininberg added.
Defense attorney Bob Heieck disputed the prosecutor’s claims. Mininberg also noted that Rogers continued working at Telesis Preparatory Academy until her arrest on July 11. The victim reportedly tried to postpone any relationship with Rogers until he turned 18 but found her difficult to manage.
The hearing evaluated Heick’s request to reduce Rogers’ $25,000 bond. Heieck proposed that Rogers be released on her own recognizance. Additionally, it was revealed that Rogers, though married, would reside with her daughter if released before the trial.
Rogers has pleaded not guilty to custodial interference and two counts of sexual conduct with a minor. Judge Jantzen expressed concern over the gravity of the charges and the nature of the allegations. He reduced her bond slightly to $20,000 and stipulated that she remain supervised under the pre-trial services program if released. Rogers is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on August 26.
