Bodycam Footage Unveils Armed Rolex Replica Heist at McDonald’s

A recent incident in a Phoenix McDonald’s parking lot took a perilous turn when a Rolex buyer discovered his expensive watch was counterfeit. Seeking restitution, the buyer staged an armed confrontation in Maricopa to reclaim his money.
This unusual event was highlighted by The CrimePiece, a popular YouTube channel boasting over 120,000 subscribers. The channel released police body camera footage documenting the encounter, which has garnered attention for its bizarre nature, earning a spot on InMaricopa’s list of Top 2 Counterfeit Fails of 2023.
The bodycam footage shows Maricopa Police officers interviewing both parties involved: the alleged scammer and the buyer, 43-year-old Robert Wyatt. The seller claimed that Wyatt made threats during their meeting, allegedly stating he would “put a bullet in his head” while indicating Wyatt was armed.
Wyatt explained to authorities that after purchasing a Rolex for $5,000, he had taken it to an appraiser who confirmed it was a fake. Upset by the discovery, he arranged a second meeting with the seller under the pretense of buying another watch. Instead, he confronted the suspect and displayed his firearm.
Police have indicated that they will file charges against the seller, who Wyatt identified as a 17-year-old. The age and identity of the seller remain undisclosed in public records.
In the released footage, the young seller is visibly shaken as he struggles to communicate effectively. During an interview at the Maricopa police station, Wyatt stated he had no intention of shooting anyone and merely wanted to intimidate the seller into returning his money.
Wyatt was arrested at the scene, facing multiple felony firearms charges along with two counts of making threats. He later entered a plea agreement, resulting in the dismissal of misdemeanor charges, and pleaded guilty to the firearms charge on December 15, 2023.
This incident follows closely on the heels of other high-profile events in Maricopa, including footage from a confrontation over “chicken nuggies” at a local Burger King and a documentary regarding the infamous YouTube Mom case.
