Body of Man Discovered in Phoenix Canal

PHOENIX — Authorities have recovered the body of a man who went missing while fishing in a canal in Phoenix. The incident occurred near 51st Avenue and Cactus Road on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded around 1 p.m. after local reports indicated a possible drowning. Glendale Fire Department officials stated that the fisherman fell into the water and did not resurface.

Family members attempted to assist him but were unable to reach him. The search effort involved the Phoenix Police Department Dive Team, along with the Glendale and Phoenix Fire Departments. Additionally, safety drones were deployed to aid in the operation. Salt River Project played a role by lowering the water levels to facilitate the search.

As the investigation continues, officials are working to gather more details surrounding the tragic event.
