Man's body found at Grand Canyon, 1,000 feet below Rim

GRAND CANYON VILLAGE, Ariz. — Authorities report that the body of a 20-year-old man from California was recovered in the Grand Canyon earlier this week. The man was located approximately 1,000 feet below the Rim.

The discovery occurred on February 10 at around 8 a.m., following reports of a broken rock wall and debris from a vehicle scattered in the area. An aerial search initiative helped first responders locate both the man and his vehicle.

A recovery team was subsequently deployed to retrieve the deceased. The investigation into his death is ongoing and will involve collaboration with the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office. Officials have not yet released the man’s identity, nor have further details been disclosed.
