Blistering Heatwave Persists: Valley Residents Swelter On

PHOENIX — Excessive heat conditions will persist today across much of the region and through Tuesday in the Lower Colorado River Valley and southeast California.
Thunderstorm chances today are mainly confined to the Arizona high terrain. By Tuesday, these chances will spread westward. Shower and thunderstorm activity is expected to become widespread across the Arizona lower deserts, with strong winds and blowing dust being potential outcomes. Rain chances should continue on Wednesday but will retreat to higher terrain areas as the week progresses and conditions become drier.
Temperatures are expected to be closer to seasonal norms during the middle of the week before heating up again into the next weekend.
