Blazing Heatwave Persists Through the Weekend

Dangerously hot temperatures continue this weekend


PHOENIX — Phoenix shattered its previous high-temperature record on Saturday, soaring to a blistering 116 degrees. This surpasses the 2020 record of 114 degrees. The morning low wasn’t much relief, matching last year’s record warm low of 92 degrees.

Afternoon storms are expected through the weekend and into next week. The highest chances of storms will be in the mountains and near Tucson.

The Valley faces an excessive heat warning until 8 p.m. on Monday. Daily highs will range between 114-116 degrees, with potential records at risk on Sunday and Monday.

A disturbance next week could lead to a more active monsoon period starting Tuesday.
