Blaze Ravages Popular Paradise Valley Restaurant
The fire happened in the kitchen of The Mexicano, a Maggiore Group restaurant in Paradise Valley. Here are the latest details.
PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. — On Saturday, The Mexicano, a restaurant owned by renowned chef Joey Maggiore, was damaged in a kitchen fire. According to the Phoenix Fire Department, the fire occurred near the intersection of 40th Street and Cactus Road.
Firefighters responded promptly to the scene. Using hoses, they managed to contain the blaze to the kitchen area.
Fire trucks were seen outside The Mexicano when a 12News crew arrived. Notably, Joey Maggiore also owns Hash Kitchen, The Sicilian Butcher, and several other popular eateries under the Maggiore Restaurant Group.
The fire started around the oven and stove. Ladder crews cut holes in the roof to prevent the flames from spreading to the attic.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Opened in December 2021, The Mexicano is known for unique dishes like a three-foot quesadilla and a build-your-own margarita bar.
