Bizarre Arrest: Man Tased Near School After Stealing 60 Beers and Two Glizzies

Maricopa Police arrested 39-year-old Todd Allen on October 21, 2024, following an incident of shoplifting and resisting arrest. The arrest occurred at the Circle K convenience store located at John Wayne Parkway and Bowlin Road.
Reports indicate that police received a shoplifting complaint just after noon. Surveillance footage revealed Allen leaving the store at 12:01 p.m. with a significant amount of stolen merchandise—60 cans of Bud Light and two hot dogs. He was seen walking away without paying.
Law enforcement found Allen approximately 700 yards from the store, near Maricopa Elementary School but not on school property. When approached, he adopted a fighting stance, prompting an officer to deploy a taser. Allen was subsequently subdued and arrested. No further incidents occurred during the arrest process.
This was not Allen’s first encounter with the law; he had been arrested for similar charges at the same Circle K just two weeks prior, on October 9. Following this incident, he was booked into the Pinal County Detention Center on charges that included shoplifting, trespassing, and resisting arrest. If convicted, he faces a potential prison sentence of up to 18 months.
