Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs formally announced his candidacy for the office of Governor during the Arizona Republican Party’s 2025 Statutory Meeting on Saturday. This marks his official entry into the race against Democratic incumbent Governor Katie Hobbs.

Biggs addressed party members, emphasizing his commitment to the campaign. In a moment shared widely on social media, he stated, “I am jumping in formally to the race for governor in 2026. Thank you.” His declaration echoed the campaign’s slogan, “Make Arizona Great Again,” positioning him as a serious contender.

In an earlier post on social media, Biggs expressed enthusiasm for his campaign and invited supporters to sign his petition. His popularity is reflected in recent polling; an exclusive Arizona Free News poll shows him leading with 31.7%, a notable 19.3-point advantage over prominent rival Karrin Taylor Robson. State Treasurer Kimberly Yee garnered 7.4% in the same poll.

Another poll from NicoPAC also highlighted Biggs’ dominance, indicating he holds a commanding 58.5% of registered voter support. This same survey revealed Robson trailing with just 8.8%, while Yee slightly improved, securing 10.8% of the votes. The results reflect strong early support for Biggs as he prepares for the upcoming primary.

Biggs received endorsements from influential figures, including Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk and former congressional colleague Matt Gaetz. Congressman Eli Crane also endorsed Biggs, praising his conservative credentials and familiarity with Arizona’s political landscape.

Support from former Arizona State Representative Austin Smith further solidifies Biggs’ position. Smith emphasized the importance of having a candidate who prioritizes the needs of Arizonans over the interests of contract lobbyists.

As the race intensifies, Biggs’ campaign stands as a significant challenge to Hobbs, shaping the political landscape in Arizona leading up to the 2026 election.
