'Took advantage of the trust between colleagues': Former correctional officer indicted for sexual attack on fellow officer, MCAO says

Ramon Godoy is facing several felony charges for an alleged sexual attack on a female correctional officer.

MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. — A former Arizona correctional officer is facing multiple felony charges for the alleged sexual abuse of a female correctional officer at Lewis Prison earlier this month.

Ramon Godoy, 33, is accused of luring his colleague into a prison gymnasium where he attacked her and placed her in a choke hold while the abuse happened. The victim reported the attack to law enforcement soon after, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office said.

“This defendant took advantage of the trust between colleagues and abused his victim at a place where others were not in sight,” said County Attorney Rachel Mitchell. “Being a sworn correctional officer does not give you a free pass to abuse.”

On July 17, Godoy was indicted on one kidnapping charge, one sexual abuse charge and one attempt to commit sexual assault charge.

Godoy was previously a Correctional Sergeant with the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry but is no longer employed there.

Godoy was held on a $75,000 bail. The alleged attack happened on July 7.
