WASHINGTON — Jack Lilley, a celebrated actor from the beloved series “Little House on the Prairie,” has passed away at the age of 91. The news was shared by his family via social media earlier this week.

In a heartfelt tribute, Lilley’s family described him as a storyteller and a friend who had an enduring impact on those around him. “The man who started it all, known to us as friend, storyteller, joker, and a heck of a horseman,” they wrote. They also mentioned his deep love for his late wife, Irene, stating he couldn’t bear to be without her.

Jack Lilley was known for portraying various roles, including a stagecoach driver in the iconic 1970s series. Beyond acting, he was also a skilled stuntman, contributing to projects like “Texas Ranger.” His work left an indelible mark on both film and television.

Melissa Gilbert, Lilley’s co-star from “Little House on the Prairie,” shared her sorrow on Instagram, remembering him as one of her “favorite people on the planet.” She recalled fond memories of learning to ride horses under his guidance and expressed deep affection for him and his family.
