Baskin-Robbins is set to make its return to Maricopa, Arizona, bringing with it a menu of beloved ice cream flavors. The franchise plans to open a new location just a few doors down from Sprouts Farmers Market this summer.
Local franchisee Dana Rakvica announced that construction began in December, with an expected opening in early May. This marks a significant comeback for the Canton, Mass.-based chain, which previously closed its Maricopa Fiesta location in 2013. City officials authorized the latest development in December, allowing work on the interior to commence.
The decision to reintroduce Baskin-Robbins stems from Maricopa’s substantial population growth over the past decade. “We identified it as one of our top market areas,” Rakvica stated, expressing optimism for the new store’s prospects. Historically, the city has had a scarcity of ice cream shops, making this launch particularly timely.
As the opening date approaches, Rakvica and his team are planning to foster excitement through various events. Past openings featured a DJ, appearances by the brand mascot Coney, and promotional giveaways. “We usually do $1 cones for that day,” he added, hinting at plans to celebrate the grand opening with special deals.
