Baseball Cards Spark Bold Ambush on Porter Road, Police Report
A Glennwilde man was arrested Wednesday morning after an altercation related to missing baseball cards. Justin E. Wells, 43, faces a felony charge of aggravated assault, as detailed in a probable cause statement from the Maricopa Police Department.
The police responded to the intersection of Porter Road and Alan Stevens Parkway following reports of an attack at approximately 9:20 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man hunched over and clutching his left shoulder, which appeared visibly dislocated.
The victim alleged that Wells, along with another individual, confronted him and initiated the assault. However, police reports did not confirm the presence of a second assailant. First responders from the Maricopa Fire and Medical Department assessed the situation and suspected the man had sustained a shoulder separation, prompting his transport to a local hospital for treatment.
At his residence on West Somerset Drive, Wells explained that the victim had been living with him since October 27. He claimed to have noticed the disappearance of several baseball cards before confronting the man on Porter Road and attacking him.
Wells was taken into custody around 9:50 a.m. and subsequently booked into the Pinal County jail, where he faces potential imprisonment of up to five years.
