Ballet Company Appoints New Director, Ushering in a Vibrant Era

Ian Parsons
In April, Ballet Theatre of Phoenix (BTP) appointed Ian Parsons as its new director, effective fall 2025. Parsons, an educator and international performer, comes from Canada’s National Ballet School, where he has served on the artistic staff since 2018.
As director, Parsons will oversee BTP’s artistic and educational programming, focusing on curriculum, faculty development, and performance outreach. He will also lead Convergence Ballet, BTP’s affiliated professional company, aiming to strengthen the link between student training and professional experience.
“I am thrilled to join this essential part of the Phoenix and Arizona dance community,” Parsons said. “Ballet Theatre of Phoenix is renowned for its commitment to excellence, and I look forward to collaborating with students, faculty, and families to nurture that legacy.”
Ballet Theatre of Phoenix, located at 6201 N. 7th St., features a 7,800-square-foot facility with top instructors in ballet and contemporary dance for ages 3 to adult.
