An autism therapy center will replace Big 5 Sporting Goods

The Wells shopping center has welcomed a new tenant, Texas-based Action Behavior Centers ABA Therapy for Autism, aimed at providing specialized therapy services for children with autism. Located at 41800 W. Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway, the center has recently installed its signage following permit approval on October 21.

Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is at the core of the therapy offered, a method informed by various learning sciences, including educational psychology and linguistics. Action Behavior Centers claims to be the leading provider of ABA therapy nationwide, according to data from Arizona State University.

With 39 locations already operating across Arizona, primarily in the Phoenix metro area, the center plans to expand further with over 200 facilities located in 15 additional states.

This new establishment will take over the space formerly occupied by Big 5 Sporting Goods, which closed its doors last month after eight years in operation. The center will cater to children aged 1.5 to 13 years on the autism spectrum. An opening date has yet to be confirmed, and further inquiries have been directed to Regional Director of Operations Whitney Sweet.
