Authorities Confirm Identity of Pedestrian Tragically Struck and Killed in East Valley

MESA, Ariz. — A tragic accident occurred Friday morning in Mesa, resulting in the death of an 81-year-old man. The victim, identified as Richard Chamblin, was struck by a vehicle around 9:30 a.m. near the intersection of 76th Street and McDowell Road, just east of the Loop 202 freeway.

Authorities from the Mesa Police Department reported that Chamblin was crossing North Ridgecrest, away from designated crosswalks when the incident happened. Initial findings indicate that he stepped into the road from the median.
