ASU jumps 7 spots in AP Top 25 after upset of BYU to become the highest-ranked Big 12 team

TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State University (ASU) has made headlines this week after securing a spot at No. 14 in the AP Top 25, following a decisive victory over BYU. This win not only propelled the Sun Devils to first place in the Big 12 Conference but also marked their highest ranking in a decade.

ASU’s leap is significant, as the team jumped seven spots from its previous ranking of No. 21. This impressive movement tops the weekend’s rankings, with Clemson and Iowa State each moving up five spots to No. 12 and No. 17, respectively.

Historically, ASU reached No. 12 in the final AP Top 25 of 2014. This marks a notable resurgence for the team, captivating fans who have awaited such recognition.

Looking ahead, ASU faces a crucial matchup against archrival Arizona in the 98th Territorial Cup, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, at Arizona Stadium in Tucson. A win in this game will secure ASU’s place in the Big 12 Championship Game on Dec. 7 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
