Arrests Made in Texas Lake Jet Ski Hit-and-Run Incident, Officials Confirm

A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday at Grapevine Lake, resulting in the death of 18-year-old Ava Moore. Reports indicate that she was kayaking when struck by a jet ski driven by a woman.
As the situation developed, Grapevine police announced the arrest of two suspects involved in the hit-and-run. One of the individuals, identified as Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez, was apprehended in collaboration with Texas Game Wardens and local law enforcement.
Later in the day, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton disclosed that another suspect was also arrested, though this person remains unnamed. Paxton suggested that both individuals could be undocumented, a claim that has yet to be confirmed through official records.
The Grapevine Fire Department responded to the emergency around 5:20 p.m., following reports of the kayaking incident. First responders rushed Moore to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead due to significant trauma.
On Memorial Day, police released images of one woman from the jet ski. While one suspect fled the scene with a male companion, the other reportedly remained after the crash. Investigators believe this fleeing individual caused an additional hit-and-run before abandoning their vehicle nearby.
By Wednesday afternoon, Game Wardens confirmed the arrest of Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez, targeting her as a key suspect in the case. A tweet from Texas Game Wardens expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of various law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation.
In a public statement, Moore’s family conveyed their sorrow: “We are grieving the loss of our daughter at this time….Our prayers are also with the young ladies involved, along with their families.” They also shared a cherished photograph of Moore, taken shortly before her graduation from the United States Air Force Academy Prep.
