An armed robbery at the Stanfield Laundromat on October 14th left employees shaken but unharmed. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. at 36936 State Route 84, according to a laundromat employee who requested anonymity for safety reasons.

During the robbery, the suspect pistol-whipped two employees, managing to escape with only $20. “It was just a quick in-and-out,” said the employee, who noted there were no customers in the laundromat at the time. The suspect, armed with a handgun, was seen fleeing south on Stanfield Road. “We have video footage,” she added.

Fortunately, the employees involved in the attack were reported to be “OK.” The laundromat typically keeps minimal cash on hand, which may have led to the small amount taken. The employee speculated that the laundromat might have been targeted due to its advertised check-cashing services.

Witness descriptions from the scene indicate that the suspect wore a dark bandana over his face, a dark camouflage shirt, skinny jeans, and tanned work boots. According to Pinal County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) spokesperson Lauren Reimer, the suspect is described as Hispanic, approximately 20 years old, standing about 5-foot-7, weighing around 150 pounds, with dark hair and possibly a dark beard.

This incident marks the first robbery at the laundromat, with the employee emphasizing that the business typically operates without incident. “People just come in, do their laundry and leave,” she stated.

If anyone has information regarding this robbery, they are urged to call 520-866-5111.
